Poetry in Disguise by Donna Allen

Spare the time

to read people twice,

or even more if you need.

Discover

at a slower pace,

the clarity an attentive read

will provide.

The phrasing may not be your own,

but most words will ring familiar

more often than not.

Repetitious curiosity is the key

to understanding your world,

and someone else’s as well.

Each life is a bit of poetry in disguise

waiting to be interpreted

for the sake of peace for

someone, somewhere.

Always, there is pain in life

mixed in amongst the pleasure.

With joy, there is sadness

subtly walking hand in hand.
